Resumption of a master programme

You were admitted to a master programme, discontinued your studies and want to be admitted to the same or a different master programme?

The steps in the resumption of your studies depend on two factors:

  1. Is and entrance exam procedure conducted in the master programme of your choice?
  2. Were you admitted to the same or a different master programme in the past?

General information about the resumption of studies

  • Minimum academic achievement: Since winter semester 2022/23 onwards you have to achieve at least 16 ECTS for each bachelor/diploma programme you are admitted to. If this is not the case, the degree programme will be closed.
  • Change of name: If your legal name has changed, please disclose this at an early stage. Message us via the contact form and attach a scan of your valid passport or personal ID card and a proof of the name change (e.g. marriage certificate or official notice of the name change).
  • Application and admission deadlines: The deadline for the resumption of studies depends on your chosen degree programme. You can find detailed information at the respective type of degree programme.
  • Simultaneous admission at two Austrian universities: It is not possible to be admitted to the same degree programme at two Austrian universities at the same time. If you have already studied the chosen degree programme at another university, please send your confirmation of withdrawl via the contact form.
  • Curriculum: You will be admitted to the current curriculum without any exception.
  • Recognition of exams: The StudiesServiceCenter (SSC)/StudiesServiceUnit (SSS) of the respective degree programme can provide information regarding recognition of prior study achievements and help you to organise your studies.
  • Completion of resumption: You do not have to book an online appointment. The resumption is done via our Servicedesk.

Master programmes with entrance exam procedure

You have to apply for admission and complete the entrance exam procedure if you want to resume one of the master programmes listed above. This also applies, if you were admitted to the same degree programme in the past. The application is only possible within the application period of the respective academic year.
