What is a "module"?

13.07.2017

You have come across the term "module" in your curriculum and don't know exactly what it is? Don't worry, this can be easily explained.

Each curriculum consists of a series of modules. These modules enable you to gain more profound knowledge on the various thematic areas of your degree programme. A module comprises several different courses of a single thematic area.

You can picture them as a series of larger and smaller boxes: The biggest box is your curriculum. It comprises the "module boxes". Inside the "module boxes", there are even smaller "course boxes".

Sometimes, you have to complete the prescribed modules in a certain order. This means that you will for example have to finish module 1 before starting with module 2. Detailed information is available in your curriculum.

We wish you lots of success in your studies!
