What do I need for admission?

Required documents
- your valid passport or personal ID card (front and back) as JPEG or PNG file
- the CEEPUS Letter of Award and Scholarship Details ("Zuerkennungsschreiben")

Admission period
- Winter semester 2026/27: from 13 July to 31 October 2026
- Summer semester 2027: from 11 January to 31 March 2027
Step 1: Register in u:space
First, set up a u:account in our student portal u:space. We explain exactly how to do this and what you need to bear in mind here:
Set up a u:account
Select “u:account Registration” in u:space and set up your u:account. Make sure you remember your login details, as you will need them for your studies. We will send an activation link to your e-mail address.
Register in u:space
Log in to u:space and complete the registration for prospective students. Here's how:
- After logging in, first select “Studies”.
- Fill in your personal data in the registration form for students.
- Upload your valid passport or identity card (front and back!) as a JPEG or PNG file.
Submit your application within the admission period at Studies → Apply for admission. Upload all the necessary documents there. If you have prepared all documents submitting your application will only take a few minutes.
Step 2: Complete the preliminary admission process

Let us know which degree programme you have been nominated for. Send the ‘Letter of Award’ and the ‘Scholarship Details’ together as a single PDF document via:

The Admission Office will grant you preliminary admission to the degree programme
We will send you an email with your student ID number and information on the next steps.
Step 3: Pay the Students' Union fee
To complete your admission, please pay the Students' Union fee.
You can then download your study documents (student record sheet and confirmation of enrolment) from u:space → Personal matters → My Documents.
Step 4: Plan the start of your studies
As soon as the Students' Union fee has been received by the University of Vienna, you can order your student ID card, the u:card.
