Changing personal data

Has your personal data changed during your studies, or was it recorded incorrectly? On this page, we explain what to do in such cases and how to keep your information up to date.

You can only update your personal data if you are a student or are currently submitting an application for admission to a degree programme.

Personal data you can change yourself

You can change the following details in u:space > Personal > Personal data.

  • Forwarding email address
  • Telephone number and bank details
  • Home and delivery address

Changes we make on your behalf

There are some personal data items that you cannot change yourself. In such cases, we will need proof so that we can make the changes. Continue reading to find out everything you need to know about what to do next and the proof required.

  • Change of name

    Has your name changed (e.g. due to marriage)? Please send us the relevant proof (e.g. a marriage certificate) and a scanned copy of your photo ID via the contact form (subject: change of data).

  • Change of citizenship

    Please send us proof of your change of citizenship (proof of citizenship and passport or identity card) via the contact form (subject: change of data).

  • Change of gender

    If you accidentally entered the wrong gender when registering in u:space, please send the relevant proof (passport or identity card) via the contact form (subject: change of data).

    Information about change of name and person for trans*persons

  • Entering an academic degree

    Would you like to have an academic degree that you obtained at another higher education institution entered in your records? Please send us the degree award notification via the contact form (subject: cange of data). We can only enter academic degrees that have been awarded by an educational institution in an EU/EEA country or the UK, or that have been recognised through recognition of foreign degrees.

    If an academic degree awarded by the University of Vienna is missing from your personal data in u:space, please contact the StudiesServiceCenter for your degree programme.

  • Correction of date of birth or spelling of the name

    Is your date of birth or name displayed incorrectly? Please send proof of the correct spelling (passport or identity card) via the contact form (subject: change of data).
