Bachelor’s/diploma programme: Completing the admission procedure
Bachelor's/diploma programmes with entrance exam/aptitude test procedure
You want to start a bachelor's/diploma programme with entrance exam/aptitude test procedure? Here you can find out your next steps after the entrance exam/aptitude test procedure.
Step 1: Complete the admission procedure
You can only complete the admission procedure within the admission period. Your next steps in the admissions procedure depend on whether you wish to
- start your degree programme straight away or
- attend the University Preparation Programme (VWU) first.
I want to...
Option 1: secondary-school leaving certificate from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland
- Check the status of your application in u:space. The required status is “submitted”. If it is still “amend”, upload your missing secondary-school leaving certificate (ALL pages combined into one PDF file). This will complete the amendment of your application.
- Log in to the Servicedesk with your u:account and let us know as soon as possible, within the admission period, that you wish to start your studies. Please note: The University of Vienna reserves the right to invite you to an online appointment.
- Once you have been (preliminarily) admitted, you will receive an e-mail containing important information. Please read this e-mail carefully.
Option 2: secondary-school leaving certificate from a non-EU/EEA country
- Wait for your admission letter.

Option 2: secondary-school leaving certificate from a non-EU/EEA country
- We will send the admission letter to the e-mail address you provided in u:space. Register at the VWU and pay the course fee there.
- Once you have registered at the VWU, book an appointment for online first-time admission. We will check your documents and preliminarily admit you to the non-degree programme to attend the University Preparation Programme.
Step 2: Pay the tuition fee/Students' Union fee
Once you have been preliminarily admitted to your degree programme, you have to pay the tuition fee/Students' Union fee. We explain when, how and how much you need to pay on our website about the tuition fee/Students' Union fee.
As soon as the prescribed fee is received in u:space → Financial Matters → Tuition fee/Students' Union fee, you have completed the admission procedure. Then, you can order your student ID card, the u:card.
Furthermore, you can print out your student documents (e.g. student record sheet, confirmation of enrolment) in u:space → Personal matters → My documents.
