If so, it is important that you are aware of these two deadlines:
- Application period: This is the period during which you apply for the degree programme.
- Admission period: Once you have submitted your application, you must complete the admission procedure during the admission period.
We explain which deadlines apply to you on this website.
What do I need to do, and by when?

Application period
The application period is the timeframe during which you can apply for a degree programme at the University of Vienna. To do so, you must submit an application for admission to a degree programme.
You must submit your application within the application period if you are starting, changing, adding or resuming a degree programme.
Our tip: Apply right at the beginning of the application period! As soon as the admission period begins, you can complete the admission procedure quickly.

Admission period
During the admission period, you must complete all the necessary steps in the admission procedure.
Please note: To do this, you must have submitted an application for admission within the application period and meet all the admission requirements.
Our tip: Complete the admission procedure as early as possible. This will ensure you get off to a good start with your studies!

Certainly eligible master’s programmes
You have completed your bachelor's programme at the University of Vienna and would like to start a master's programme in the same subject without selection procedure? The following deadlines apply provided that your degree is certainly eligible. You can check whether this is the case by consulting the curriculum of the master's programme.
Please note: If there are qualitative admission requirements (QZB), language proficiency requirements or other additional requirements, you must meet the application period. Please refer to the Master Access Guide (MAG) for further information. Select your chosen degree programme from the list there.
