Degree programme with selection procedure
A selection procedure is conducted for admission to this master programme.
- Graduates from the bachelor programme in Economics at the University of Vienna are exempt from this selection procedure.
- All other prospective students can only submit your application for admission to the degree programme once per year, within the application period.
- The admission letter is only valid for the winter semester you have applied for and the following summer semester.
- The allocation of available study places ensues during the selection procedure. 180 study places are available per academic year for prospective students who have completed other previous degree programmes.
Application period academic year 2025/26: from 3 March to 7 April 2025
Degree programme instructed in English
The language of instruction in this degree programme is English. A proof of German language proficiency is not required.

To be admitted to an English or multilingual master programme at the University of Vienna, you have to provide a proof of English language proficiency.
To apply for admission to this degree programme, you require a proof of English language proficiency at level B2.

GMAT/GRE General Test®
It is mandatory that you provide your results of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test in your application for admission. There are no exceptions. The results of the test are not relevant.
GMAT Focus, GMAT "classic" and GRE are standardised tests consisting of multiple parts to measure the academic abilities of prospective students. You can find information about the test and examination dates on the website of the OeAD.
