Confirmations for (former) students
Current students of the University of Vienna can download most confirmations in u:space at Personal matters > My documents themselves at any time. The documents carry an official electronic signature and are accepted by official authorities.
On this page you can find an overview of the most common confirmations and information on where to receive them.
Confirmations of admission
The student documents (student record sheet, confirmation of enrolment and confirmation of study periods) confirm your admission at the University of Vienna. Always try to hand in these officially electronically signed documents at the authority requesting the confirmation first. You can download your study documents in u:space.
You need a confirmation that contains information that is not contained in the documents available in u:space? Or confirmations with "wet" stamp and signature? Please message us via the Servicedesk. Answer the following questions in your request:
- What should be confirmed?
- For which authority shall the confirmation be issued?
- Do you need a "wet" stamp and signature or official electronic signature?
- Shall the confirmation be issued in English or German?
Info for former students
If you do not study at the University of Vienna anymore send your request to bestaetigungen.zulassung@univie.ac.at. State which confirmation you need. Include a scan of your valid personal ID in the format JPEG or PDF. If your name has changed since your time at the University of Vienna, also add an official proof of the change of name (e.g. marriage certificate) to your message. Include the following information:
- First and last name
- Date of birth
- Student ID number (if known)
- Degree programme studied
- Beginning and end of studies (if known)
Confirmations of forms of other authorities
The Admission Office may also confirm information about the admission to degree programmes in forms provided by other authorities (e.g. in the form for orphan's allowance). Information that cannot be confirmed will be crossed out in the form or explained by added comments. This is, for example, the prospective date of completion of the degree programme.
Fill in the form with your personal data and send all pages of the form combined into one PDF file via the Servicedesk. Always send all pages of the form – even if other pages contain information that cannot be confirmed by the Admission Office. We will send you the completed, stamped and signed form as PDF file. If you need the confirmation via post please let us know in your message. Make sure that your current address is stored in u:space at Personal matters > Personal data.
Former students who do not have an active u:account (anymore) can send their request including all attachments via e-mail to bestaetigungen.zulassung@univie.ac.at.
Please note: BAföG forms can only be confirmed by the StudiesServiceCenter of your degree programme.
Confirmations for the Austrian Armed Forces or Civil Service Agency
Military or civil service is not a special case of hardship according to § 26 para 3 military law. You can download your confirmation of enrolment in u:space at Personal matters > My documents at any time.
During your military or civil service you can be on leave of absence.
Payment confirmation
The payment confirmation for the tuition fee/Students' Union fee is available in u:space > Personal matters > My documents > Semester specific documents > payment request/confirmation.
A confirmation of the payment of the administration fee for bachelor programmes with entrance exam procedure is included in the registration confirmation for the entrance exam procedure. This document is available when you have applied for admission to one of these programmes.
Confirmations of examination results
Your examination results are included in your transcript of records and the confirmation of courses passed in u:space.
If you need confirmations beyond that or if you have no access to u:space anymore please contact the StudiesServiceCenter (SSC) of your degree programme.
Confirmations about the completion of a degree programme/academic degree
If you need a duplicate of your degree certificate or diploma supplement please contact the StudiesServiceCenter (SSC) of your degree programme.
If you need a confirmation of your academic degree for an external agency please contact the Büro Studienpräses at verifications@univie.ac.at. Exempt from this are degrees from dental or medical studies.
If you have studied dental or human medicine in the past please contact the Medical University of Vienna directly. Since 1 January 2004 it is no longer part of the University of Vienna. Your data is available at the Medical University and can be verified there.
