Classical Archaeology (master's programme)
What is it about?
On the master's programme in Classical Archaeology, you will gain a deeper understanding of archaeological methods (such as typology, stylistic and material analysis, contextual and visual analysis, and the history of reception) and explore complex issues relating to the Greco-Roman cultural sphere from the Bronze Age through to Late Antiquity.
By opting to include further courses in classical studies and cultural history, you will broaden your perspective. You will learn to situate archaeological findings within broader cultural, social and intellectual-historical contexts, whilst also considering how antiquity has been received in the modern and contemporary eras. In seminars and projects, you will work closely with original material, discuss current research questions and present independent analyses that interlink artefacts, visual sources and texts.
