German Philology (master's programme)

Rereading literature, exploring language, discovering connections: on the master's programme in German Philology, you will deepen your knowledge of German literature and language within their historical, cultural and media contexts. In doing so, you will set your own areas of specialisation, such as contemporary literature or corpus linguistics.

What is it about?

On the master's programme in German Philology, you will undertake research- and theory-based work in three areas: Medieval and Early German Literature, Modern German Literature and Linguistics. You will be able to set your own areas of focus and explore specific areas in greater depth.

You will analyse German-language literature from its origins to the present day, examine linguistic structures and change, and discuss current academic discourse.
