Jewish Studies (master's programme)
What is it about?
On the master's programme in Jewish Studies, you will explore Judaism in all its complexity – both as a distinct entity and in its interaction with changing contexts. You will read and interpret key sources in Hebrew and Aramaic. You will work with methods from textual and cultural studies, deepen your understanding of theory and hermeneutics, and reflect on the history of the discipline. You will analyse topics ranging from antiquity to the present day, gain an understanding of traditions and practices, and draw on both written and oral traditions. You will always consider Jewish history within the context of cultural transfer processes, the history of minority groups and interfaith encounters. You will develop your practical command of Hebrew and Aramaic to enable you to read original texts.
