-
Where can I check, if I have successfully paid or re-enroled in my degree programme?
This is how you can check if your payment was successful and you have re-enroled in your studies at the University of Vienna:
- You can find your student documents (student record sheet and confirmation of enrolment) in u:space at Personal matters > My documents. Choose the current semester at "semester-specific documents".

I am completing my degree programme before 31 October/31 March (date of the last examination). Do I have to pay?
If you complete your degree programme in winter semester until 31 October, and you are not admitted to any other degree programme you do not need to pay for the winter semester. This also applies, if you have already completed the last examination but the result is only entered after 31 October. The important thing is that the date of the last examination is on 31 October at the latest. The same applies if you complete your degree programme until 31 March in summer semester.
If you have already paid the tuition fee, you can submit an application for reimbursement.
-
My fee does not register as "received" seven days after paying. What can I do?
If your fee is not registered as received seven days after you have paid, it is likely that an error in the payment process has occurred. Check your payment data (payment reference according to u:space, amount of the paid fee, ...).
In case of an incorrect payment the bank cannot allocate the paid fee to your student account at the University of Vienna. Thus you cannot be re-enroled in your studies.
- Your unique 12-digit payment reference is not correct, is missing or was entered wrongly (e.g. in the field "Verwendungszweck" instead of "Zahlungsreferenz").
If this is the case, the bank cannot allocate the fee. It will return the fee to the account the payment was made from. This return remittance may cause charges that will be deducted from your account!
→ Solution: Pay the fee again. Make sure to enter the correct data in the correct field. - You have paid a too high/too little fee.
If you have paid too much (double payment, wrong prescribed fee) we can reimburse the difference to the required fee.
→ Solution: Submit an application for reimbursement.
If you have paid to little you can pay the remaining difference until the end of the payment period. Make sure to enter the correct payment data. If the fee is not paid fully or in due time your degree programme will be closed.
→ Solution: Pay the remaining difference before the end of the payment period. - You have entered the unique payment reference (called "Semesterkundendaten" before) of a wrong semester
If this is the case, the bank cannot allocate the fee. It will return the fee to the account the payment was made from. This return remittance may cause charges that will be deducted from your account!
→ Solution: Pay the fee again. Make sure to enter the latest unique payment reference in the correct field. - You have completed the payment form correctly. Nevertheless an error occurred.
Possible reasons for errors are: the self-service machine in the bank or the bank assistent did not or did not correctly forward the unique payment reference.
If this is the case, the bank cannot allocate the fee. It will return the fee to the account the payment was made from. This return remittance may cause charges that will be deducted from your account!
→ Solution: Pay the fee again (best way is directly in u:space via eps-payment or credit card). Otherwise make sure to enter the correct data. - You have paid in cash.
If you pay in cash at a bank the payment reference is frequently not forwarded. If this is the case, the bank cannot allocate the fee. It will return the fee to the bank location the payment was made from.
→ Solution: Directly contact the bank location you paid at. - You have paid via eps-payment and the fee was deducted twice by the bank.
Please contact your bank. It has to directly get in touch with the Raiffeisenbank (bank connection of the University of Vienna). A return remittance is only possible via the Raiffeisenbank.
→ Solution: Directly contact your bank.
- Your unique 12-digit payment reference is not correct, is missing or was entered wrongly (e.g. in the field "Verwendungszweck" instead of "Zahlungsreferenz").

If you are admitted at the Postgraduate and to a degree programme there are two options:
- Only the Students' Union fee is prescribed for you

I am also studying at a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule). How much do I have to pay?

If you pay at an FH:
- Pay the prescribed fee.
- Wait for a week.
- Check if the Students' Union fee has been marked as "received" in u:space > Financial matters > Tuition fee/Students' Union fee within the payment period.
- If this is the case you can re-enrol in your degree programme at Studies > Study overview.
Do not forget: If the tuition fee is also prescribed for you at the University of Vienna you also have to pay the remaining difference.
-
Should I pay with some kind of express payment, so the money is transferred faster?
No, this is not necessary. The transfer is not much faster that way. An express payment does not really affect the process. The fastest way is paying directly via eps-payment (only possible with Austrian bank account) or credit card in u:space. In this case the fee is marked as "received" on the same day.
-
Can I pay my tuition fee/Students' Union fee in advance for the next semester?
This is not possible. You can only pay the tuition fee/Students' Union fee within the payment period of the respective semester.
