Digital Humanities (master's programme)

Shaping, interpreting and discussing digitalisation: on the master's programme in Digital Humanities, you will develop computer-based methods for the humanities and test them in a project – together with students from Data Science and Business Analytics.

What is it about?

The master's programme in Digital Humanities expands your cultural studies competencies to include a solid grounding in IT and places you within interdisciplinary teams. You will learn to programme (Python) and work with data structures and models (e.g. JSON, XML, SQL). You will deepen your knowledge in technical specialisms such as visualisation, statistical methods, maps/GIS, text encoding (TEI) and web-based publishing. At the same time, you will critically examine methods, theories, and ethical and legal issues surrounding digitalisation – in close collaboration with the Master’s programmes in Data Science and Business Analytics.

Good to know: The master's programmes Business Analytics, Data Science and Digital Humanities are jointly offered by the Faculties of Business, Economics and Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, and the Faculties of Historical and Cultural Studies.
