Confirmations for third parties

Confirmations for external institutions, parents and other third parties may only be issued if they can provide an authorisation (power of attorney) and copy of the personal ID of the person concerned. Exceptions apply for lawyers who request information about a person represented by them as well as in the course of the obligatory exchange of information between local or government authorities ("Amtshilfe").

Administrative cooperation/legal authorities

Please always directly contact the person concerned in the first place due to data protection regulations. Current students can download their student documents directly in u:space > Personal matters > My documents or request special confirmations via the Servicedesk. Former students message us at bestaetigungen.zulassung@univie.ac.at.

If you are unable to receive the confirmation by the person concerned you can contact bestaetigungen.zulassung@univie.ac.at. Describe which information has to be confirmed in your message. In any case include the name, date of birth and (if known) student ID number of the person. 

For information regarding examination results please contact the StudiesServiceCenter of the respective degree programme. 

Authorised persons

The Admission Office may issue confirmations for third parties if they provide a signed authorisation (power of attorney) of the person concerned. Send the authorisation as well as a scan of the valid personal ID of the person concerned via e-mail to bestaetigungen.zulassung@univie.ac.at. State which confirmation you need in your message. 

Verifications of education or academic degree

Due to data protection regulations you have to keep several things in mind for the verification of academic degrees. 

The Büro Studienpräses needs a scan of the personal ID of the person (as JPEG or PDF) as well as a signed declaration of consent. This declaration has to include the following information: 

• Specification of the data required (e.g. academic degree, number of achieved ECTS etc.) 
• Name
• Date of birth
• Address of the office or name and address of the person concerned
• Degree programme
• Student ID number
• Purpose

Send your request for verification of academic degrees to the Büro Studienpräses at verifications@univie.ac.at. An exemption are degrees of dental and medical degree programmes.

For confirmations of degrees of dental and medical programmes please contact the Medical University of Vienna, even if the diploma was issued by the University of Vienna (this was the case until 2004).
