General Information about the Teacher Education Programme

The teacher education programme for secondary school teachers (of general education) consists of a bachelor’s programme (8 semesters/240 ECTS credits) and a master’s programme (4 semesters/120 ECTS credits).

Students select two teaching subjects according to their interests and acquire subject-related academic and didactic knowledge. In addition, they have to complete courses on General Principles of Educational Science and Studies on Teaching.

Students who would like to study a third teaching subject, can do so by completing an extension curriculum.

The tracking of graduates provides information about the career paths of the University of Vienna graduates and aims at providing guidance for career entry after graduation (e.g. questions about the duration of job search until first employment after graduation, salary development and sectors that graduates are active in).
