Registration for the entrance exam procedure for students in the VWU
You are currently attending the University Preparation Programme (VWU) and are going to complete it before or during the upcoming winter semester? Or you have already completed all supplementary examinations at the VWU?
To participate in the entrance exam procedure you have to register for it within the application period. After you have successfully participated in the entrance exam procedure and completed all supplementary examinations, you can be admitted to a degree programme within the admission period of the following winter or summer semester.
The entrance exam procedure for the bachelor programme in Teacher Education is valid indefinitely.
Deadlines
Application period for the academic year 2024/25:
- from 4 March to 5 June 2024
Winter semester 2024/25:
- Admission period: after the announcement of results to 31 October 2024
- Semester start: 1 October
Summer semester 2025:
- Admission period: from 7 January to 31 March 2025
- Semester start: 1 March
Your steps in the registration
Step 1: Complete the Online-Self-Assessment (OSA)
The Online-Self-Assessment (OSA) is the first step of the entrance exam procedure. After completing the OSA, you will receive your OSA code. You need this code to register for the entrance exam procedure. The bachelor programmes in Psychology and Sport Science do not have an OSA.
Step 2: Log into u:space
You do not have to create a new u:account. Log in with your existing data. If you forgot your login data, please contact the Helpdesk of the Vienna University Computer Center (ZID).
Step 3: Choose the degree programme of your choice
Select the degree programme for which you would like to complete the entrance exam procedure, at Studies > Apply for admission, as you did when you applied for admission in the past.
Step 4: Complete your documents
Documents that were already confirmed by the Admission Office (status "approved") do not have to be uploaded again.
- Secondary-school leaving certificate from a non-EU/EEA country:
Upload your admission letter of your chosen degree programme as document type "Certificate of proficiency in German at level A2". - Secondary-school leaving certificate from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland:
Upload your current student record sheet as document type "Certificate of proficiency in German at level A2".
Step 5: Confirm your proficiency in German
Select "Yes, my German knowledge is sufficient. I want to participate in the entrance exam procedure for the coming academic year."

Step 6: Enter your OSA code
You do not need an OSA code for the bachelor programmes in Psychology and Sport Science.
Step 7: Pay the administration fee
If you have completed all documents, choose "continue to submission". Check your data and continue with "pay and submit application". Pay the administration fee of 50 Euro by credit card or eps online payment (only possible with an Austrian bank account).
Now you are registered for the entrance exam procedure. The status of your application has to be "submitted". You can find your confirmation of registration in u:space > Personal matters > My documents. Several days after the end of the application period, you will be informed whether the written exam will take place or not. Also, check the spam folder of your mailbox.
