Making up for supplementary examinations from the bachelor programme for admission to a master programme
The admission to master programmes is possible with supplementary examinations to an extent of up to 30 ECTS to compensate for fundamental subject-specific differences. If this extent is exceeded, your application for admission will be rejected.
Your application for admission was rejected for this reason? You can make up for lacking supplementary examinations in a non-degree programme, until 30 ECTS or less remain. For this purpose, you will be admitted to "attending individual courses", not to a specific degree programme.
For example: You lack 39 ECTS to compensate for fundamental subject-specific differences. Therefore, your application is rejected. Subsequently, you complete supplementary examinations to an extent of 9 ECTS or more as a non-degree student. Afterwards, you can apply for admission to the degree programme again within the application period.
If the supplementary examination in German was prescribed in your admission letter, please read the information regarding the University Preparation Programme of the Vienna Universities (VWU) carefully.

- Students admitted to a degree programme are favoured in the allocation of course places. If you have any questions regarding the registration for courses and examinations, please contact the StudiesServiceCenter or StudiesServiceUnit of the degree programme in which the courses are offered.
- You are only allowed to take individual examinations/courses and must comply with the curriuclum's registration requirements. Furthermore, you are not allowed to take any public defenses. Graduating is not possible.
- There might be restrictions/limitations when it comes to health insurance, obtaining a semester pass of the Wiener Linien, residence permit and financial assistance. Please make an inquiry at the responsible authority about the consequences of your non-degree programme up front.
