In order to access many of the offered support serivces at the University of Vienna it is required to provide proof of impairment.

Depending on your individual needs, different offices are responsible for managing your documentation. The type of proof needed may vary. Listed below you can find out which kind of documentation you need in order to access different services:

Alternate Modes of Assessment


Alternative modes of assessment involve adjustments to exams/courses to compensate for disadvantages students with impairments/illnesses may face.

To apply for alternative modes of assessment, you will need:

  • a medical/clinical psychological/psychotherapeutic certificate

  • or the “Form without Diagnosis” which must be filled out by a medical provider

  • a "Disability Identity Card" with up to date information about a the relevant impairment

 


Discontinuing exams or courses for an important reason


Students that experience acute health problems or happen to be in an accident right before or during an exam or course with compulsory attendance can be signed out without any consequences.Your lecturer/examiner may ask you for documentation to validate the existence of a justified reason for signing you out of a course/exam which is already in progress.

In order to do so you can provide either:

  • medical/clinical psychological/psychotherapeutic certificate
  • or a relevant doctor's note by your primary care provider


Remission of the tuition fee


Students can, if they have an appropriate reason, apply for remission of the tuition fee during the respective period. In order to do so, you will need one of the following froms of documentation:

  • either a confirmation by a medical specialist
  • or an up to date Disability Identity Card
