Remission of the tuition fee


Degree students with citizenship of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland or with equal status can, if they have an appropriate reason, apply for remission of the tuition fee during the respective period.

  • Solely the listed reasons for remission can be accepted!
  • The Students' Union fee has to be paid in time even if your application for remission is accepted!

The processing of applications can take up to several weeks, so apply as soon as possible. You will be notified about the outcome of your application and possible further steps via e-mail to your u:account e-mail address.

 Required documents

Documents that were not issued in German or English have to be translated by a court sworn translator.


  • Winter semester 2021/22: from 12 July to 30 November 2021
  • Summer semester 2022: from 10 January to 30 April 2022

You are strongly advised to apply for remission at least a month before the end of the deadline!


Download all required documents and fill them in. Send them together with the required documents of proof as one PDF file to the Admission Office (contact form - indicate your u:account e-mail address!).
